    Default Incoming with fish

I think that when a spot is as popular as Nicerson beach is with photographers, a good challenge to give yourself is to try and see things a bit differently. I hope that I achieved my goal with this image. Last evening, the birds were gathering in a large flock by the beach and once in a while one would fly over with a fish and a member on th ground would reach up for it. I laid flat on the sand for this image. If anything, I wish for a bit more on the bottom.

Thanks for looking and as always for your comments.

I love the story here and the fact that your mission was to challenge yourself. Exposure is spot on and nice to see the unpinnings lit. The dangling legs and fish are super and the bottom skimmer yearning for that tidbit brings the image full circle.

Grace, unique look so kudos to you for looking beyond the norm. Love the perfect exposure, sharp details and the head of the skimmer looking back. I think the birds at the bottom finish the story off nicely.

    Grace,
    This is excellent.
I like the curve created by the head and neck of the bottom bird and the beak and head of flying bird.Exposure is perfect and I love the light and the fact that the fish is facing the correct way.
I know you don't alter your images but if this was mine I would clone out the birds' head in the LLC to give a more uniform wavy line in the OOF birds on the bottom.
    Either way, a beautiful image

Grace, I really like what you have here - a very neat moment in time captured. I don't think that having any more on the bottom would benefit the image. Instead it might make it a bit busier than you want. I think the skimmer flying would make a great image alone, but with the turned skimmer on the ground you have taken the image to a whole new level.

I like that you made the busy colony shot work for you by including the other birds reaction to the incoming bird and showing the others blurred in the bg.

The story is almost as good as the image, which is great. Let us indeed keep on trying new things. Your picture also tells a story. The would-be thief is low in the image, but if more of him were visible then yes, the photo might become too busy.

Dang, this is really nice! You even lucked out and achieved great eye contact from the fish...
Excellent image quality, and spot on composition, though I also agree with your self critique.
