I sat under the tree and watched this Osprey eat his lunch on New Year's Day 08. He would look down every so often to see what I was doing not caring that I was about 20 feet below. The wind was a bit gusty and he was having a time hanging on while he ate. I decided to shoot this close in for a more intimate look instead of trying to include the whole bird. I have other frames where I did that.

Strange but interesting. Love the eye contact and the talons. Blue sky too intense, and I (finally) see a wide halo on the left side of the perch and lower wing.

Thanks, Artie. I was definitely trying for different. I realized the issue here...I shot this in jpg with my old Pentax which had more saturated, punchy colors. I didn't realize the cam was set that way. Now its harder to change things. This seems to be about the best I can do with the sky. The halo should be taken care of. This might be in need of some more contrast though. Just about to lose the whites in the head too. Comparing the two, this rework now looks much more natural.
