    Default Eared Grebe

I photographed this eared grebe near Monterey, CA last week. In the few encounters I've had with this bird, I've had a hard time getting a decent shot. This was about as good a look as I've gotten.

What freaky-looking birds these guys are. The water droplets on the back are neat, and the head turn keeps it from being a pure backside image. The big red eye with the pinpoint pupil is interesting.

Swimming away as usual. Well done with the necessary head turn as noted by Jim Poor. Great composition getting the bird tucked into the corner. Suggestion: select the iris with a Quick Mask and DeSAT the reds 15-20 points...

No problem. We are just getting used to things ourselves :)
