    Default Theme: Semipalmated Sandpiper.

This picture was taken in 2005 here in Guelph.
I still was shooting in jpeg as I found that the 10D was very slow in RAW.
I re-processed it for this posting.
I found it interesting that I virtually had to do nothing other than the basic sharpening and cropping.
I also removed a few OOF. stones from the background.
    Thanks for looking.

I think this is very nice, Karl.
Not super IQ, being a jpeg, but kind of artsy and attractive.
I think a little crop off the left, removing the rock on the left side would look nice.

A very nice pose, Karl, with the higher viewpoint making the most of those lovely plumage colours on the back. A nice natural framing.

Not too bad for a jpeg out of a 10D. Excellent pose.

Ditto all of the positives above.

Cheryl, Dank Earl :), Jack, and especially Melvin, please note: The bird is clearly a juvenile Least Sandpiper: yellowish-green legs for a start. Plus the fact that no Semi would eve show all those bright, triangular white tips on some of the covert feathers. All of the above is clearly and simply detailed in my Shorebirds:Beautiful Beachcombers. And leasts are always reddish-browner than 99.999999% of all semis.

YAW; the book is simply written and easy to understand. You will quickly learn that it is usually easier to ID the birds as to age than as to species.

The theme is off to a great start with already an educational twist to the thread :-) The IQ looks great to me, and I love the strecthing pose.
