    Here's a variation on the usual "skimmer skimming" shot. After several frames of plain old skimming, the frame just prior to this showed his head totally buried in the water, and in this one he somehow recovered and came up with the fish, albeit a smallfry. Almost looked like he was about to do a back flip, but the frame after this shows him on an even keel again. IQ is not ideal, but I liked the action. From Jamaica Bay two weeks ago.

    Oh WOW! Never seen anything like this before. Bill, any chance you can post some more shots of the sequence for us, I'd love to see them!

    Great action shot, Bill. I am in love with watching and photographing skimmers skimming (just posted one too!), and appreciate the difficulty in getting this. Love the splash and the decisive moment captured, with the fish in the beak.

    Great action captured Sir.
    Love the pose with fish in beak,nice flash of water and it's vertical reflection,Yes and panorama-crop composition.
