    Default Another Semipalmated Plover Stretch...

Man-o-man, these guys were cooperative like crazy this past weekend. Not only did they allow careful close approach, but the stretched and posed at the most opportune times, often placed next to appealing vegetation too! Here's a side-stretch to complement the over-the-top stretch of my previous thread

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/7.1, ISO 400 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, FF (but I can see a version with some off the top), some FG beach clean-up via patch tool. The shadow on the far wing lightened via didge tool.

I love these young ones too Daniel. Your images reminds me to get out there and find some.

The image is really superlative. Sharp, great light, action, BG, FG ..... I like the layout as-is but can also see some off the top may work. The only minor unfortunate aspect is the piece of veg that seems to be propping the bird up.

What a terrific capture of this behavior, Daniel, and like the last one I am also loving the vegetation.

I'm going to have to find that 'didge' tool you talk about ;) All kidding aside, this is wonderful. The stretched wing and leg take it over the top. The detail and sharpness is spot on and I think that the green from the vegetation adds that little bit extra. Excellent capture!

Daniel, excellent light, IQ, shooting angle & stretched pose. Also like the OOF grasses in the BG & perfect HA. If it was mine, I'd eliminate the grass behind the stretched wing or at least shortening it a little.

Just lovely. I was thinking about your previous wing-stretch shot this morning while photographing one of these little fellows at Jamaica Bay. I kept waiting for the wing stretch but he didn't oblige, and he certainly wasn't in such a lively patch of grass. Great pose, low angle, bg and detail.
