    Default Preening Oystercatcher

    Took this shot of the Oystercatcher in a preening pose at Nickerson Beach towards the end of June.

    D300s,300mm f2.8 + TC14e,1/3200s, ISO-200, F/4.5,manual exp,HH lying low on the ground.20% Crop.

    I'm usually not a fan of too much negative space, but here I think it works really well. I would think about cropping a bit off of the out of focus from the bottom. Great image!

    Nice image, interesting pose. The head needs bit more sharpness IMO and
    agree with Miguel about the crop.

    I like the low angle and the wavy texture of the sand. Too bad the bill is in the shade, and I would have liked the subject bigger in the frame, or at this size lower in the frame.

    I agree it would have been nice ti have the bill illuminated. I have to say I actually like the original composition better. The negative space above the bird in the re post just seems like too much. I like the balance of the original.
