Our version of the Bald eagle. Taken on 24th May 2012 on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. Harsh midday sun- taken approx 1400hrs. Have lightened the bird quite a lot in ACR and sharpened both in RAW and PSE 10. Due to trying to pull some detail under the wing the large version shows what I think is noise, cant see much on the small web version but maybe you can tell me differently and also a way of reducing it. If anyone wants the full RAW to have a go at please let me know . I am hoping that my processing will improve from advice on this forum.
Am going back to Mull in 2 weeks for another go when hopefully the sun will be lower in the sky- fingers crossed as Scotland can be very dull wet and grey.
Canon 1dmkIV, Canon 400 f5.6 lens( due to birds coming very close to boat when being fed)
1/800 sec ( in order to get some light under the bird),
F11- for depth of field- birds are approx 20/25 m's away from you,
ISO 800
Hi there Ivan, I like the pose and I think you have done a good job with the tricky lighting. You may have a slight blue cast (reflection from the sea).
I have sent you an email.
Markus, I can read the ring on another shot I have taken, It is one of the Mull birds that was born a few years ago. Parents are from the west coast re introduction scheme. There is also an East coast scheme, The hoped for plan is for the two lots to meet and re populate the whols of Scotland.
