Hi Joe, cracking detail and very nicely processed too.

I quite like the figure of eight with the head poised, but would like to have seen the tongue out, would have given the image that edge it needs I feel. Is the wild or captive, only because of the habitat? If you are doing more of these reptiles let me know, I send you some links of UK photos where you might get some additional inspiration from in terms of angles, DOF, comp etc.

    Hi Joe,
nice one of this European Snake.
As Steve said nicely processed and with good detail, i do not mind about the missing tongue.
If it was mine i would go for a different crop to have a bit more FG instead of BG, and would reduce the blues in the darks.

Good call Andreas, I meant to suggest a slight pano, but got distracted, glad you picked it up, but more, the added FG, thanks.

Super image of Britain's only poisonous snake. Would love to know the details of the capture. The Adder looks like it's simply on a lawn somewhere.

Joe - nice image and better you than me with one of these. Good suggestions above for taking it up a notch.

    Venomous, not poisonous.

Image is stellar. Did you happen to get any closeups of the head?

Stunning detail Joe. I am also going to comment on the crop and suggest you add more FG and space to the LHS if you have it.

Pretty awesome looking snake and I like the focus on his head. I would add some space on the left and go for a pano.

I love the tension in the pose! Some good suggestions all round given already, particularly the crop/comp.
