Mitch, I love what the Simplify did to the vegetation and water. My personal taste would be for the image to stand alone w/o the tern however some may feel differently. There are a couple of dust bunnies that I would evict. Beautiful lighting on the water.

    Denise,

Thanks for your comments. You were correct, the original bird really did not fit. While I know you suggested evicting the bird altogether, I thought I would try to find a more compatible one. Does this work any better?

I prefer your OP to the second one. I'm not a birder, so I don't know if the tern fits in or not. I think it fits fairly well. You might want to lighten it up a bit. The scene is gorgeous, as is the light and your processing. Had you already included the Tern when you did the processing on the image? Here is a quick brightening of the tern. I may have oversaturated it. Just an idea.

    Anita,

Thank you for taking the time to repost this image. I think you are correct. The lighter bird is not only "brighter", but it seems float and rise up. It does not seem as "heavy" in the image...

    Thanks again.

    Mitch

p.s. I processed the tern on a separate layer. The "background" was also split onto two different layers. One for the clouds and sky, and the other for the reeds and foreground.

I was wondering if the bird would fit in better if it was initially processed the same way as the rest of the image, and then processed in a separate layer.
