    Rachel,

A very typical Etosha waterhole scene, without knowing where you were staying I would be hard pushed to know where it was, but it looks like the right hand side of Okakuejo.

Hi Rachel, looking at the image and reading your intro, I might be tempted to boost it all up and to try and get some more 'richness' into it. Although it might be slightly away from what was taken, personally I think it helps, but just a thought . I would also add some selective Contrast to the water to define things more. Nice idea going pano with the various land forms flacking top & bottom, but would be tempted to crop a little off the foot of the image, say just at the top of the R. Unsure about the crop on the RHS and where to crop, always difficult with something like this, perhaps just after the rear leg & before the head in the water, WDYT? I bet you enjoyed this scene, very tranquil, Amarula afterwards was it?

Ken - I think you're right about where it was taken but where I stayed had nothing to do with it. I actually stayed at Andersson's in Ongava Private Reserve just outside the gate.

Steve - thanks for the suggestions. I'll play around a bit more. Deciding where to crop was definitely the most difficult aspect. Of course, plenty of Amarula on the trip though I alternated with Pimm's and lemonade if the weather was warm.

    Rachel,

As you had to leave before sunset you had to be near one of the two gates this aided my detective work. Also the highly likely fact that you would be staying at Wilderness.

    Hi Rachel,
nice Okaukuejo late afternoon scene, think you can push the colors a bit more and the contrast as well.

Comp works as presented for me.

Nice scene from a place I still need to visit...making plans for a long trip in 2014...
I like the comp as presented...might have been tempted to leave more at the top?
Would be interesting to see one with more contrast/colour as mentioned?

I like the formation the herd seems to be in, almost looks like a wedge. Seems a little tight up top for me, would like a touch more room up there.

Thanks everyone, here's a repost with more contrast and color and a bit more room on top.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

AHHA, now I see the rational for the OP. I like the RP based on the colour/contrast enhancements, but prefer the OP crop which eliminates the dead trees (?) etc, likewise the RHS issue.

    Thanks

    Rachel,

The famous fallen tress of Okaukueja strike again there used be in in the centre and everything hid behind it
I think the OP has the correct colours for this water hole, especially just before sunset.
