The lighting is great, but the angle of the water "cap" and other misc drops are fantastic. You are a master of drops!

Wow....This is very cool. Is it hard to do? What is your bg and what kind of flash setup did you use. If you could provide a few details about your setup I would appreciate it very much!

Hi, Maureen, this is great work!!! I love the little planets spinning off from Saturn (OK - that's my vision
). Very, very cool. I love the gold look to the lighting.

Thanks for the comments.

Bob I wouldn't say it's hard to do, but it did take some time (and the generous help of others who do this) to figure things out. I still have a lot to learn, for sure. I am using StopShot (there are several similar devices available), three flash units and my D3s. The background is simple white foam board. The colors are produced by using colored gels on the flash units. Both the water in the drip pan and the dropper are tinted with food coloring.

Maureen, Nice work, you have really created some great ones. I still love your paint drops!

Very well done Maureen! I like the colors and shapes you are getting. And I still like the paint drops too!

Nice image and application, Maureen.
Like the tilt on the cap. You may want to play with some of the options in Topaz Lens effects, if you have that program. I find it a great one for modifying the images. Other than that, nice image.

Hi Mark - I'm a little confused about your suggestion. The image I posted wasn't manipulated or filtered beyond a minor crop, some sharpening and cleanup of a few stray droplets. I don't own Topaz lens effects, so I really don't know what it does.

No problem Maureen.
There are a lot of "neat" filters in Topaz lens effects. Basically you can do many effects that you do in the field; Gold/Silver Reflector, Boken (center focus, SLR Lens, Selective), Pinhole, Tilt & Shift, Toy Cameras, Diffusion, Dual Tone, Fog, Grad ND, Grad Color, Polarization, UV Haze filter, Warmth (color), Creative Blur, Dual Focus. I am still learning it but has been fun.
As for your image, I was only suggesting if you have Topaz to give it a try. You might like the effect of some of the above. I like what you have, but wonder if some of the effects might create other visions for you!
See you here again after Isaac passes. Know you are farther inland then we are. We will be OK, but it's going to be windy and wet this week.

Hi Maureen. Awesome image and I really like slight offset and the low angle. Agree that lighting is sometimes the extra spark that carries these images to the next level. Very well done!!!
PS. One thing I have tried is to shoot one of the flashes through a translucent (frosted) plastic background... change angles of flash and add color gels to taste

Thanks, Steve. Things are getting very silly here
