    Default Great White Egret

    Hi Everyone,

It's not very often in the UK that we get a chance to photograph this beautiful bird so when an opportunity arose I spent some time trying to get a decent shot.

The image below was one of several I managed on the day all full frame, couldn't believe my luck. The bird was quite spooky so hiding away was the only thing to do to try and get close. Hidden away in the undergrowth for eleven hours wasn't great but the end results speak for themselves, more than worth the effort.

    Hope you like it.

very simple, very elegant. Pretty good detail in the feathers too - although you might be able to extract a little more from the back side

Like the textured but clean environment. Also might try and get a little more detail from the back, but otherwise great pose and details.

Welcome. Sweet and simple in nice soft light. With a perfect head angle. Do the grasses that intersect the body bother you at all? A Linear Burn on the bright feathers on the upper back should help.

Well done, and I like the simplistic look. The environment gives a soft feel, and I like the grasses in front of the bird, although I do notice one that looks as though it's going through the bird's tail which is a bit distracting. It doesn't look like the others maybe b/c the grass was not as close to the bird as the others. I may consider a slight crop from the right and a little more room on the left, if you have it, to help keep the bird a little more off center.

I like the pose and setting. Perfect perspective too...any lower and you introduce too many FG grasses and any higher you lose the perfect BG and intimate view. Some tof the grasses crossing the body could be removed if you are into that type of image editting. Your patience paid off...now you could buy a plane ticket, head to Florida, and have some begging at your feet for handouts!

I don't mind the grasses through the body Artie I think it gives it a more natural look.

I love another chance to get close to these beautiful birds especially a breeding one. I don't think you realise what we do over here to get close to these, probably sell our grannies.

    Thanks again,

    Carl.
