    Jan,

Got to love it when you get a close up of these

The eye confused me so I had to resort to some "pixel peeping" having thought it might be the horizon, I see that is the nictating membrane do you have any more frames where this is not apparent?

Love the comp and the open beak.
    Good IQ and detail.
Agree re: nictitating membrane as I find my eye goes right to the eye and tries to figure out what the line is,

Jan, A fun image, great pose. I'm ok with the partially closed membrane as that is often what birds do when they yawn, but I would clean up the lower right corner. The rest of the backgroun is so clean that it sticks out to my eye. Hope to see more of your work.

    a quirky portrait Jan
    lovely details
I don't mind the membrane, I could tell immediately what it is and it adds to the gaping pose for me

Looks like a hand puppet :-) I'm OK with the membrane in this case. Harsh light dealt with best you could...I just wish there weren't as many shadowed areas in the face (near the eye). I'd crop about 50& off of the empty space above off the top as even though there is lots of neck I find that space makes the subject appear lower in the frame than it should IMO. A fun image for sure!!
