Shot this today. The skies were overcast and the flower and BG were in a nice position. Canon EOS 5DMK2, 70-200mm at 200mm. ISO 640, f/22 (ala Roman), SS 1/125. There were a lot of damaged lotus flowers but this one just jumped out at me, perfect angle and nice diffused light.

    Nick:

Nice DOF, soft even light, sharp and well exposed. I do think the softness has left the image a bit flat.

I took it into LR4, and moved the black slider to the left to taste. Perhaps slightly overdone, but it has a bit more pop.

Matter of taste really, just an option to consider.

    Cheers

Good advice Randy. I will do that as I think it gives it a bit more pop. Thanks.

Hi Nick. This almost looks like a focus stack with all the DOF you achieved. The light and colors are very pleasing. I like both your and Randy's versions - maybe something in between would be ideal. Like Randy says, it's a matter of taste. This is very nicely done!

Nice isolation Nick! I like the pop of Randy's......so would tweak it but as emntioned.....matter of taste!
