Here's another photo of this beauty of a shorebird. I would have been so ecstatic had the full reflection been available to include too, but alas the water was just too murky beyond what you see at the bottom of the frame. I must say that I am am still very happy with this!!

A couple of smudges in the water eliminated, including one cutting across the legs. In my previous image of this fella there was a subtle magenta cast rightly pointed out by Gail (thanks!) that was present here too...added some green in "Colour Balance" to sort that out.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/6.3, ISO 800 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, about 85% FF.

    Now this one I like!!
Great IQ, nice soft diffuse light low POV, great reflection and foraging pose and nice blue in the sky.
    Well done,
    Gail

The partial reflection is actually quite lovely, Daniel. A great shot, to be sure. I am most envious of your time with the shorebirds. Envious in a non-competitive and supportive way, if such a thing is possible...

It is a very nice reflection, very nice DOF and just an appealing pastel image.

Techs are good but light and colours are way too dull. This series is not up there with your best photography IMHO.

I like the lightness of this and the water texture around the feet. I would have prefferred all of the reflection and less of the bg. I also like the back foot nearing a lift position

I really like this shot. I love the partial reflection, very nice details, and great shooting angle.
    Well done.

Hi Dan, good low angle of capture, and I like the angled feeding pose too. Good DOF effect, the partial reflection works for me, as it looks he is looking into a mirror. I like the softer colours of the graduated BG too.

I like it as is. Not every shot is meant to be full of vibrant colors. Almost has a high key effect. Nice and sharp with clean subdued light. Like the reflection too. Good Job!
