    Default Yellow legs fluffing

From Jamaica Bay on Tuesday night. This was a beautiful speciman and we were rooting for him to jump up into that little cut out in the log and preen or pose. There was a raptor or two flying around, which perhaps may have caused him to stay low, or perhaps he just didnt' feel like it. Sometimes I just take what I'm offered and try to work wtih it.

Thanks for looking and for your comments, I do appreciate them all.

Lovely BG colors on this one, Grace, and the colors all work together very nicely. Liking the shake, esp the white feathers under the tail with such nice details and so perfectly exposed. The tree trunk adds an interesting element and I actually like the reflections. My only suggestion would be to consider a slight crop off of the right. TFS

Congrats on the new toy! I would love to hear your views on it once you have had time to put it through its paces.

    Grace:

Nice fluffing pose, light, wonderful color palette. Good shooting angle.

Yes, I wish he had hopped up as well, would have been even stronger on top of the log. I would try a version cropped pretty tight, to downplay the log a bit, and show us the bird in more detail.

    Cheers

I like the comp as presented and would not crop any off the right. I like the chicken or rail-like pose. Details look nice, awesome BG!! Had I been there I would have hoped really hard along with you for it to hop on that piece of wood!!

Grace, birds do seem to have a sense of humour and rarely do what you want them to do, but you have made the most with this situation - lovely light and plumage detail - and at least it did fluff up its feathers for you.
