Default WHITE PELICAN - HEAD THROW

While concentrating on close ups of this pelican's head at F16, it suddenly began exhibiting interesting behavior. No time to change settings but zoomed out in time to catch a few frames of a pretty incredible head throw. Some de-structure with Nik was applied to the BG water.

Great and unusual image Marina. I like the unique pose, details and sharpness.

It took me a few seconds to get oriented with this unusual (but very cool) pose.
    Comp is perfect.
The water color seems a bit odd and the bill seems awfully orange. Perhaps this was the way it was in this light but I wonder if the NIK PP did something to the colors?
I really like the visible veins of the buccal mucosa.

For those who might be curious, here is the original full frame shot out of ACR with no adjustments. On the original post only 6pts of SAT was added.

Curious about whether the viewers prefer the original water or as adjusted with Nik in the original post.

Thanks again for looking and for your comments and critiques.

Hi Marina, a very interesting pose and love the angle that you have created it from. Good to see the veins in the bill, and Im preferring your original ( repost ) with regards to the water.

Hi Marina. Definitely a cool head throw, and I like that you can see both eyes. I'm going to vote for the unprocessed BG. I do find the frame a little dark, both the original capture and the repost.

I'm going to vote for somewhere in between on the sat, but agree with Arash that the original needs some punch. It sure is an interesting pose, great job with dof.

I like the original post - don't see any issues with the brightness.

Amazing pose, very dramatic and striking! I like the OP better too, but both look a bit dark to me.

Very nice shot. I just love the pose, great light, exposed very well, and the detail in the bill is superb. I personally like the OP.
    Well done.

I like your original post as well (the pp version) I find the blurred bg brings out the pelican. Really neat pose and agree about lightening just a bit
