    Default Skimmer Skirmish comp

The evening I had scheduled to visit Nickerson last week turned out heavily overcast, with dim light. Still, I loved watching (and hearing) the aerial antics of the Black Skimmers. In the brief time that I tried, though, it seemed that each time I got two birds in close proximity to one another, they were either too far away for any detail, or too close to get both birds in the frame without clipping one of them. What to do? I enlarged the canvas in PP, and combined the two aerial combatents from two frames taken a second apart. It captures the spirit of the action, if not 100% of the truth. I'm curious to know what you think.

This lovely composite belongs to Digital Creation category rather than AVIAN IMHO.

I wondered if I might be stepping over the line. Mods can move this if appropriate.

    Very cool digital manipulation.
I bet this would look great in an HD version as I feel one could see more details in the birds especially the eye.

Bill, this is a lovely high key image. I love the action and think it would look great as a print.

Ditto what Cheryl said, great action and I really like the high key look, perfect for "white skies". Nice original captures!

Bill, I just got back from a week at Nickerson, lots of great flight battles! You did a great job with this and the high key background adds a lot! Love it!!

Thanks Denise. They were great fun to watch. Believe it or not, it was my first trip to Nickerson. I can see why everyone raves about it and gets great images - one can get closer to the birds there than at my usual haunts. I'll have to go beck ona day when the light is better.
