I am having a blast at Bonaventure with Jeff (Cashdollar). Working of course but we always make a little time for images.
We have had a very hot, dry summer but this week it decided to be wet. The gannet chicks (what is left of them as it is a poor breeding season) are suffering. This is a head shot with I guess the worst head angle known to man and woman (no eye contact, back of the head).
This is posted here because I wanted this effect and I knew that NIK Colo(u)r Efex would do it. I applied the Detail Extractor. Also cropped and sharpened.

Really interesting perspective, which is pretty much out of the box. I am sorry to hear of the poor breeding season and suffering chicks. I have to believe that this is at least partly due to the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
