I've just heard that some shorebirds in partial breeding plumage have started showing up in southern parts of Australia. I'm situated on the mid-east coast so I will be keeping my eyes peeled To say I'm excited about the return of these long distance flyers is an understatement This photo is from about 5 1/2 months ago.

Lovely light and I really like the feel of the water. It appears as though this may have been capture after a "shake."

Beautiful bird, pose, and IQ. Wish only that the light were ahead of the bird rather than behind. FAntastic low angle and silky water.

    Hi Chris,

Beautiful bird and capture. I really liked low angle. I also liked light, details, sharpness, head turn and beak color. TFS

Lovely low angle and light Chris, liking the soft color hues on the backdrop as well, a little more light on the head would be a slight improvement but sure can live with it as is.

A little birdy just told me of and showed me images of same in the wetlands around Olympic Park in Sydney

Nice silky water and slight look back pose. Agree with light issue but still nice image. TFS

Beautiful rear side lighting here. Gives a unique perspective to the bird and highlights the body feathers. DOF is spot on. My shorebirds are usually in the mud, so I'm really liking this water setting and blur.

Thank for the nice replies folks.
And thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the angle that the light is hitting the bird. I must say I'm not concerned by it but I appreciate folks taking the time to offer their personal views.

    Cheers
