The only weakenss in this lovely image IMHO is the un-natural BG. This can be improved as you can see in this repost - just selectively reduced the red.

Stunning bird and strong picture. Agree with Ofer on the BG looking unnatural and the repost works well. You may consider a tad more of a vertical crop...maybe a little more room on top.

    Thanks Marina

I can try some of these out but I was really pleased with the basic image, despite the weird color and didnt think to adjust the color.

Lovely image. I think a little more room on top as Marina suggests would be great. Might also try to fix what looks like a sharpening halo behind the head? I prefer Ofer's repost in terms of BG color.

Nice image Richard. I like the composition in your repost but it looks a bit over sharpened compared to your OP. I am familar with the building BG.

great pose and nice light with sharp details. I prefer getting the BG right in-camera but this one looks nice.

Hi Richard, lovely detail and colours on the woodpecker, and I like the leaning out pose. I would maybe come in from the right a bit.

Very nice and to throw a spanner into the works I'll say I like Ofer's version but with the tighter crop, all that aside it's a lovely posture and such a clear eye, must say I'm envious of you lot having Woodpeckers and we dont

Great pose and diagonal perch. I like the crop and agree about the bg . I prefer the color of the bg in Ofer's post the best.
