Default Dark Images on P'base & Other Websites

    Hi
I recently posted an image in the Pentax Forums monthly competition and was surprised the forum entry came out really dark compared to the original in My Pictures.
Have just been into P'Base and checked on a recently viewed image and it also was ridiculously dark.
Don't know if it is my computer or monitor.
The url for the P'Base picture is: http://www.pbase.com/ianmc/image/136652637
Would appreciate any advice on this.
    Thanks: Ian Mc

The whites are white on my iPad. I guess the problem's at your end.

    Thanks Graeme
Thought it might be a computer or monitor problem.

I agree with Geraeme. On my lap top I wondered what the problem was when I clicked on the image. Whites are white and colors seem true.

    Image looks good to me.
Although I do not like the large white border. To me such large white distracts from the image. And will also make the image darker because our eyes adjust down to make the white acceptable.

    "...OK in My Pictures..."
What is "My Pictures"? That is a location/drive/folder on your PC? What viewer (to show pics) is the PC using?
If so, PC is using its own viewer to show it to you. Then when you put it on web and see it another different viewer, ie9/Firefox, used by the web browser presents it. Two different viewers working out that pic JPG code on their own. You need to synch their colors, brightness, gamma so image looks the same using either. Most likely you will have to adjust the viewer that your PC uses. You may also have to adjust you monitor settings.

Hi Ian, for my perspective the image looks ok, not dark, but the whites do carry both Yellow & Cyan, reducing them helps the whites, especially the Yellow.

    Thanks Tom & Steve
Tom: "My Pictures " is an offshoot of "My Documents" and is where all my saved pictures go.
At the present time I am still using the default program which is "Windows Picture & Fax Viewer"
I understand that I can change the program in "My Pictures" however as this is only a recent occurrence and previously no problem I'm inclined to think that it may be a computer or monitor hardware problem.
Thank you for putting me on the right track.
I usually use Firefox but will see if any differences using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.
