Default Foggy colors - juvi loon

    Attached Images Attached Images

This juvi loon was imaged several weeks ago in northern Michigan. It was still, but very foggy, and I had to wait quite a while to take any pictures.

D4 600VR f/4.5 1/500 sec ISO 800 No flash Camera mounted on a pedestal in the bottom of the Loonie Too.

Post: CS5 selective sharpening, added a couple of points of black to the blacks to help cut the fog effect on the loon itself. I did several versions with varying degrees of sharpening and contrast on the bird, and felt this was a nice compromise

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Stunning, artful, an absolute delight. My favorite loon image of yours BY FAR. Well done, manzo!

Really love what you have going with this Randy. The low POV and the beautiful pastel colors of the BG. Looks like a painting! Great job on this one.

Excellent, Randy. I like the warm pastels from the BG coming through onto the water and the contrast with the monochrome bird. This is a great series of loon images that you're posting.

I love this image Randy! The loon looks perfect and the background colours are just great (looks like an autumn image). Well done.

    Hi Randy,

Great artistic work. Perfect low angle, head turn, details and beautiful BG. Fog plays great role in image. Earlier I thought there is blue cast on back of the bird but I am not sure as I have never seen this bird before. TFS

    Randy,

This is wonderful, the muted colours caused by the fog make this very special indeed

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

Maya - the bird does have a slightly cool cast. I could warm it up, but I felt it played well with the foggy feel, so left it

Jeff - I thought it was very autumn looking as well.

I have a couple more () from this series, so will eventually post them as well.

    Thanks again.
