Post: CS5 , selective sharpening, modest crop from below for comp.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Obviously, that circle is magnificent.

I like the arcing water drops, low angle, sharpness and water colour. Well done Randy!

The circle of water droplets is spectacular against the crisp black head of the loon & the smooth greens of the bkgd. What a great moment you captured!

    Hi Randy,

I liked low angle, sharpness, exposure and BG. I can see heart shape made by droplets. TFS

Interesting shot here Randy. Reminds me of the bulls when a rider hop on, but I think this is just water. Like the dark head colors, sharpness, circle of water and of course that Northern Michigan background. Very cool and I must say I have not seen a shot like this before.

Thanks folks, I appreciate your input.

Gary: The little head flick they do to get the water off is so fast, that I rarely capture it. Much less predictable than a wing flap for example, and really quick, so seldom captured.

Fabulous! You must be thrilled to have this one in your files. I like everything about it and certainly respect the skill that it took to capture.

Hi Randy, we are accustomed to your Loon images, and every image tells a story. Having said that, its always difficult to create the next image differently, to keep folk interested. Well, in this, well done for doing just that - different, and it works. Well timed to capture the shake, and to get the flying droplets in the frame. The eye level capture is spot on. Congrats.

Randy, This one is excellent on all counts...did you add the catch light?

    Sachin:

The catchlight is from the fill flash.

It would have been nice if the eye had been more open, but they usually squint or close it completely when shaking, so I was very lucky to get even this much of the eye showing.

    Cheers

I really like the water action, the low angle and the background colour.

I am very much in the mood for " different pictures" these days as I find I go through periods of being tired of "birds on a stick with clean BG!!
I admire the skill it took to get this shot.
I like the composition and I can see the heart shape that the water droplets create that Laurie mentioned.
A lovely, unique image. Well done,
    Gail
