Default The Colors of the Rainbow

While photographing hummingbirds recently, I caught this Broad-tailed Hummingbird in a pose that really shows off its incredible colors. I appreciated the light weight and close focus abilities of the new 600 during the shoot.

Hi Doug, I rate this as one of the top HB images posted on the site todate. Excellent inflight angle, and just love the varied multi coloured iridescence throughout the HB. Great BG too. Congrats on achieving this.

Not much critique to offer except for "WOW"! Amazing colours and subject isolation against that beauty of a BG.

    Doug:

The flashes have really made the colors pop, very striking. Smooth BG, unusual pose for a hummer shot, well done.

What is the MFD of the new 600?

    Cheers

Doug, looks really cool for sure. As we've discussed a number of times, I like that you used f11. Not having that hyper depth of field to include the wing tips in this position makes it look more natural to me. I normally could go for more going on the BG but as shot with a 600 mm, it's quite true to the perspective/field of view so I think it works for this particular image.

    Cheers,
    Greg
