    Default Snowy Dancing

Not a great variety of birds at JBWR last night so concentrated on what was there. The Snowy Egret were "dancing" for dinner. Great fun to watch and good practice to shoot. Exposure and balance fill are a challenge between the white bird and the dark water and the lack of good light.

    Manual fill at 1/2 power
Cropped to vertical for a different look.

    Joe:

I like the basic pose, with stretched wings, dangling feet. Wish he was angled towards us a bit.

Good use of fill, do think the image could go a bit brighter.

because of the direction of gaze, I think a conventional horizontal crop would be better, but appreciate trying different looks

    Cheers

Nice pose with forward wing in up position. Well exposed for the difficult conditions. Head turn noted, but not a killer. I like the vertical comp, but agree that it could also look good horizontally with a little room beneath. I was thinking of going there tomorrow or Friday, but sorry to hear the variety wasn't there.

It changes every day Bill. Just check the weather. There would almost always be something to photograph.

I like this, excellent comp and bird placement. A slight turn of his head would have been nice. Good fill flash TFS

I actually like the vertical comp, but I agree with HA and image brightness. Love the BG.

I like the composition, dangling feet and dark BG. I am also curious what camera and lens you used. Well done Joe!
