I do not know whether the extra long perch works or not but I quite like the way it has determined the position of the Kingfisher.

Taken on Lake Manze Channel, Selous Game Reserve, 5th July 2012, from a drifting boat.

I think the perch and the leaves on the right are a good balance for the bird - a very nice composition. I like the water drops on the sharp bird.

The perch works well IMO, as do the head angle and image sharpness. I could see cropping a little off the top.

    This is really nice Ken.
I really like the perch and the water droplets and wet feathers of the MKF.
You managed a really nice clean BG as well!

Lovely! Truly! Try getting a belted kingfisher at 70mm in my neck of the woods! Har har. Painterly and sweet, this one is.

I like the perch and comp, Ken. Agree with Doug on a little off the top. I might be tempted to warm the image slightly to bring out the colour in the flank plumage. The water droplets really add to the image.

Hi Ken, an opportunity well used here. Great clean shot of the MK, super pose, and the droplets add interest. Just love the curved perch, and yes to taking some off the top.

Thanks everybody, for your comments and suggestions. I have done a re-post which I hope incorporates everything.
