Default Western Bluebirds, mother and juvenile

Mom flew in and tried to share a perch with the juvenile. She was not welcome so later left. I thought I would show a simple perch, hoping it might be more popular than my last post. I took them in the middle and did not crop to move them to one side, guess I like it this way but wold like to hear other ideas.

Laurie I love your bluebird shots and feel sick with delight over the whole thing! You know, I've never seen a bluebird. Nary an eastern nor a mountain b.b., no way! Anyhow, these 2-bird shots are great! As for the centered composition, well, it doesn't bother me, but I'll be curious to hear what other sticklers might have to say about it. If this were my picture, I wouldn't change a thing...

    Laurie,
Don't worry about your perches...the birds really are the story. I like this one for that reason, shows how the parent is ready to be done with the whole thing. Worn plumage and all. FYI, I focued on eastern blue birds this spring and a common critique of my shots was that my perches were too simple and plain. I'd trim from the right and I do see remnants of cloning in the lrc.

Jack - I do hope you find some one day. I find the juveniles lots of fun to watch especially when they are not good at flying and landing and still are in their family groups.

Grace - Thanks for doing my job for me. Guess I did not look at this one carefully. There was some darker background in the middle right and I lightened it.

    Laurie,
Fabulous image.I like the poses of both birds and considering poses and the way they are sitting on perch, your composition is perfect. If mine I will not change.
Love the colors, open beak of juvenile, perch with moss and great BG.

    Regards,
    Satish.

very sweet interaction and nice details. would place them slightly off center or go for a vert. colors can go a bit warmer

Lots of detail and smoothy backdrop, I think the perch is rather nice with the worn look and a hint of lichen, great interaction in this and I think with the position with the birds as they are then a central composition works quite well, Arash may be right about the colors being a bit warmer

I really like this. beautiful BG and interaction. Perch is nice but I liked the other one as well.
You also have a bit of cloning mark on the rhs as well (ghost of tail feathers)

Great shot of the Bluebirds. Good detail, but I think it is a Dad and a juvenile wanting to be feed. The female western Bluebird is gray on neck and head.

Ditto Grace. If you try cropping from the right, you may wish to add a bit of canvas on top if you have it. Like the green accents on the perch and the calling pose on the youngster.

I fixed the cloning mistakes in the background and tried to warm it up a little - not sure it this worked. I don't have any room at top - or anywhere so might have to add canvas to crop from the right.

    Laurie,

I would take either version of this, the birds are too beautiful for words
