....is that if you just lay still they will come to you. This was slightly trimmed for comp, eye lightened, sharpened. About two dozen sensor spots removed. I like the slightly-off-sun-angle for the contour that it gives to his body.

Just perfect - angle, background and bird. I love that his tail is in focus and the feet are together.

Lovely low angle makes a nice intimate image, Grace. Love the 3 layers to the BG. Good aperture choice to get the necessary DOF

Hi Grace, lovely soft light, well exposed, and just love the eye. I really like the colours in the BG too. Getting down and dirty has worked out well here.

    Pretty much perfect!
The light, exposure, sharpness and angle top notch.
    F10 was an inspired choice.

Excellent exposure. Very nice light quality. Sharp details. Love the low shooting angle, but could stand a touch higher just to give the ground a bit more context where the bird is standing. Nice use of space/subject placement.
You are blessed to have such cooperative plovers...The black bellied, american golden, piping, and semi-palmated plovers I encounter around Lake Superior during migration are often anything but cooperative, laying on the ground (praying) or not :)

Very nice. I love how the BG makes color changes all the way to the sand. Great exposure ,DOF and head detail. Beautiful. Great candidate for the wall next to the front door :) .

Superb image!! I feel lighting the eye was not necessary but I guess I am losing the battle on this.

Beautiful image, Grace. Well thought out f-stop, great low angle. I agree about the off-angle lighting bringing out the detail, and it works perfectly with the head turn. Well done.

Great light and detail. Really love the really low angle on this one. Couldn't have asked for a better pose.

Beautiful shot. Great low POV. Nice use of DOF of what otherwise would have been a blurred out back end of this Plover. Well done.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your kind words about this image. I cannot take much credit tho as the bird just walked up and posed. My choice of f stop was dictated more by the fact that I had my 2x tc on than by my brilliance. That 2x tc also helped tame the light as it was quite late in the morning (by photographer's standards) . Thank you again.
