    Default Burrowing Owl

    Attached Images Attached Images

Have been fortunate this season and found some good spots to shoot birds considering I live in an arid climate.

Figures, Drive all over looking for wildlife and then right by my house I find a rely cool spot with four pair of Burrowing Owls.

At first I started going out in the mornings and evenings to get some different light on the adults. Then after a few weeks fuzzy heads started peeping out the burrows. I was elated!!

Needless to say I have a bunch of Burrowing Owl shots of all types. The perches are mostly granite rocks that make some nice settings.

Hope you Guys and Gals like BOs

This is one of the adult males and proud father of four fledged young.

I just started downsizing my files for the web. The artifacts that sometimes come up on a coffee and cream BG bother me. Any ways to eliminate or lessen this would be greatly Appreciated.

Thanks for looking and your suggestions on my previous posts.

Great close up look at this beautiful species.
    Nice BG also.
I would maybe tone down the rock perch a tad and add some room at the top if you have it.
I see a few little blotches in the BG since you mentioned it, just some more NR or very selective gaussian blur
will smooth it out, especially since it is so clean.
I don't like blur on BG's that have detail as it looks fake, but with this one, it would not be noticed.

Thanks Dan for the help. I will try it. Already toned down the rock a bit since it was blown a little. Maybe needs more. This is full frame, so no room on top hence the crop.

    Thanks again

    Hi David,
BG looks fine but agree with Dan's advice.
The BG is very complimentary to the colors of the BO.
I like the composition and the pose with the raised foot.
The granite is a bit "heavy" and draws the eye down so I would crop from the bottom to halfway through your signature.
Good IQ but I see a sharpening halo along the back of the head.
    Very nice shot,
    Gail

I love BOs. Looks like you have found some with nice perches and background. I like the granite rock as is, but would like a little more room at the top.

Hi David, good look back pose, and the raised legs adds. The colour of the BG compliments the owl nicely, and agree to tone down the perch.
