I like it, beautiful light is making him glow against the background. Sharp and well exposed. Might run some NR on the background.

This is a nice shot. The light is great. Looks like its coming from all around the bird. Not a shadow on him. Clear eye , feather detail, nice perch and the perfect 7DBG. Good job!!

Lovely detail and side lighting (Body is illuminated perfectly) nice clean perch and good BG. BG looks a bit blocky, not sure if those are called artifacts but a bit of blur on the BG may get rid of it...Very nice!

Gtreat light, raised crest, eye, colours. It may sdeem minor at first, but I'd remove the small bright streak on the perch that is touching the subject's toe...I'd rather a clean finish to the tip of the claw there. The BG issue that some point to looks like jpeg compression artefatcs, I'm certain the full-size, or pre-posting version, looks nice and smooth.

Hi Karl, sweet light, which in turn has brought out warm colours. Love the pose looking down the perch, and the heron pops well from the BG.

    Thank you all.
I re-worked the background. i smoothened out the natural unevenness in the colours. I also applead multipe noise reduction. I applied it before but maybe not enough.
Daniel, I'm not quite sure about the feet. I found a very little pattern touching the very tip of one of the toes.
    I removed the pattern.
Otherwise, the toes of the two legs are crossing each other.

    Hi Karl,

Love the sharpness and detail in the bird. With your re-post, I like the BG, but it now appears there is a small artefact appearing just under the bird's throat. I'd clone that out.

    Pete
