This lone pew was in a corridor off to the side of the Basilica, as you approached one of the side chapels. For some reason it struck a chord with me. HDR image take with the 17-40mm, f/11. Blended and tone-mapped the files in Photomatix Pro, some work on the tone and color in PS using NIK's ColorEfex Pro and Viveza, then added a light touch of Fractalius on a separate layer.

Awesome curves in this image! I really like the composition with the pew balancing the same color column. You have a tremendous eye. If I walked into the Basicilia with a camera I'm sure I would be simply overwhelmed.

This is gorgeous John. There's just a couple of thoughts I have on it, mostly just personal opinion I think. I'd like to see the highlights on the upper wall toned down a bit. Also, though I like the fract effect everywhere else, I don't really care for the effect on the floor area. Overall it's a beautiful image and I wish it were mine!

John, I love the lone pew. I think you did a fantastic job with the composition, not an easy one. The color tones and the detail make this a nice addition to your series. The only minor thing I am not fond of is the small shadow on the floor at the left but it does make sense so it isn't bad.

John, the curve is really nice. I think I'd like the highlights on the wall (are they reflections from stained glass?) to have a little more saturation. I agree with Denise about the shadow on the floor on the left but it's certainly not a deal-breaker. Beautiful work

I'm late to this discussion. The orange color of the bench end and the column on the left create a sense of balance and anchor the curves of the floor, walls, ceiling, which seem almost to move. Wish that black curtain weren't there. Another excellent image.
