    Default Caspian Tern

Caspian Tern is emerging with a fish.
I took this shot today evening, after seven PM.
I used this unusual crop to show the water behind the bird.
    Thanks for looking.

    Hi Karl,

You really timed it very well. The bird is sharp and well exposed. Love the action and splash in the water. BG is bit busy and I might tone down few of the bright sticks but overall it's a fine image. What fish is that?

Nice shot. Takes allot of effort and timing to get these shots. I love the challenge of shooting terns. Good exposure too. easy to get severe blowouts with terns. Ya what kind of fish are they feeding on?

Title of this image should have been"Man With the Golden Fish" just loved it. Magnificent image of tern with beautiful evening lights.
BG gives nice 3D effect though bushy in beautiful panorama-crop composition.
Love the wing position, nice trail of flash, water dropping from fish, and above all lovely golden fish.A dream shot.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Thank you all. I assume it is a so called Gold Fish.
I see Ospreys and Terns cathing them all over the place in City ponds.

Excellent capture Karl. The lighting is stunning as is the behaviour. Wonderful to see. I think the crop is fine. I have a few Kingfisher shots taken exactly like this and the splash and drops are important IMO. So I love seeing it displayed exactly as you have.

All the best Karl and EXCELLENT in my eyes.

    Danny.

Great catch, Karl. Good timing, nice light. Comp works nicely with the sunlit splash, and the fish is terrific. I agree with Maya that toning down some of the brightest spots in the BG wouldn't hurt.

I like the chosen crop too. Great action, good reflexes to get this. I agree with Maya about some of the brighter streaks of vegetation, and does the image need a bit of CCW rotation?

    Thanks Daniel.
Contrary to my usual habit, I did not do anything to this shot in PP. except the very basics as it was getting late and my eyes were getting tired.
I'm pretty sure it has some shortcomings, rotation is one and the vegetation in the background as you, Maya and others mentioned would need some special attention.
