We were on our way to find Serval at the salt pan when we heard the distinct sound of a buffalo in distress.
This 4/5 month old buffalo never stood a chance against 3 hungry sub adult males and 1 adult female lion.
It really showed plenty of fight even at this early age with all four lions taking quite a while to finally silence this poor fella, in fact the 3 males were more of a hindrance than a help.
Selectively reduced BG lighting by 1/2EV.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers

    Marc,
I think I have said it before but you really must try shooting in daylight

The one thing that I do not like is the Lion on the left so I thought I would see what it is like without it, I also had a fiddle with Nik Detail Extractor (not finely tuned)

    What do you think?

Spotlight is the way to go!!!

Really nice one. I like the lions pawn on the poor buffs face. I´m always a sucker for a lot of dark i BG/shadows and here I really get my share
I think Kens re-post nails comp.

    Thanks Ken & Gregor.
Your RP Ken is another good crop suggestion, but I liked the inclusion of the slow S/S in the swiped paw, but would have liked perhaps a little more of him showing as this was F/F.

Hi Marc, the use of the spot worked well, and well done to get the detail in the darker parts of the shadows too. Plus, I like the way there is still some interest in the BKG rather than just black. Inclusion of the second lioness and paw does add to the scene for me, but might crop some off the RHS.

The OOF Lion and blurred paw add nothing to the image unless the whole head was incl, so I like kens suggestion or add the head if you have it...Nice use of spot...Man you have had some great sighting s in your time!

great lighting here Marc...I'm torn between including the blurred paw and Ken's crop...it would have been great to have more "lion" on the LHS...
I think the best would be to crop tighter from RHS and leave the LHS lion in-frame.
