Here is one of the first 10 flight frames I got with the 5D3. A white-tailed Kite is a very tough subject and cameras with lesser AF usually struggle to lock focus in flight against varied BGs. The 5D3 AF tracking seems to do a good job so far. As expected the image quality is the best in Canon lineup. I still need to experiment more with the AF to form a final opinion. One thing I noticed is that the servo drive and the initial lock-on speed-especially with TC-is not as fast as 1D4 due to the lower power battery pack, so sometimes you need to plan ahead. Shutter lag is also noticeably slower compared to the 1D, and overall it is just not as fast in various operations. It's a very nice camera overall.
