    Default Preening Puffin

    Hello
What do people think of this image? I took it about two months ago on the Hebrides but recently looked at it again. I've decided I like it - it's a full frame, ie the same shape as it came out of the camera if that makes sense, although the camera has a 1.3x sensor. The only thing I did was eliminate a massive sensor splodge that was to the left of the bird's head - really annoying - the lump of crud in there was present on all hte photos I took that day, my post-processing was far from seamless for this lot!
I had totally the wrong lens for the job, the Puffins were silly close and there I was with a 500mm!! Anyhow, tech specs 1/3200s at f 6.3, ISO 400 EV -1/3rd. 1d4 and 500 f4is, lens mounted directly on monopod with arca clamp, no head.
How can I improve this one, beyond the obvious one including the bird's feet and some ground. I still like it for it's simplicity mind you. Too much blue space? Could be good for text.....
    Thanks
    Jonathan

Beautiful portrait, great details and sharpness, Jonathan. Upright it would please me better.
