    Default Flehmen's Grimace

Early morning lioness Flehmen's grimace. The OOF bush might be distracting but also very much part of the story. The lioness smelt the urine of another lioness and responded with this Flehmen's grimace.

Hi Hendri, certainly a cat not to be trifled with, especially with those dropped and slightly back ears.

Would ease off overall on the yellow via, Selective & Saturation adjustment layers and perhaps get some more tone in the tongue and front teeth. I like the bits stuck to the chin hairs but personally not a lover of the branch in the BKG, but again, doubt if you could do anything. Good sharpness, detail and depth, but if you can make the adjustments then the shadows will look spot on, likewise eyes will look good too, as that is what I'm basing things on.

Hope this helps, but shout if you need anything or clarification.

Cracking detail here Hendri - nice light too! Steve's made some great suggestions re the yellow channel. Don't mind the branch - obviously not having it would have been ace, but it's the bush and at least it was behind her haha .
I like the almost-square framing in this case with her face smack-dang in the middle.

Wonderful pose I do wish the OOF branch was not there for me it competes with the subject for the viewers attention I think going with a square crop as mention by Morkel would lessen its effect.

All nits aside, love the lighting here Hendri, with that rasping tongue depicted nicely.

    Hendri,

This is a beauty, as we normally only get to see images of Males doing this and certainly not as close. I like it as is obviously the eyes are hardly open during this behaviour same as a yawn. Bush does not bother me at all, my only idea for potential improvement might be too darken it a tad, otherwise a true beauty

    Hi Hendri,
well processed portrait with great detail and sharpness. The tongue adds a lot, to see the details there that clear . The OOF twig is bit distracting, but not too bad. The color issue i go with Steve and Morkel , but maybe not that much as they would prefer.

    Very good one.
    Cheers Andreas
