A juvenile Bonaparte's Gull had enough of a bully Ring-billed Gull's antics so it fled for a more peacful area...about 8 feet away! Some strategy...the RBG was right back at it!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/7.1, ISO 800 (histogram checked), natural light, handheld, clipped the wings so I cropped tighter top, left and right (still about 75% FF).

I like everything but the clipped wings, Daniel. An obvious observation, to be sure, but I am missing those wings!

I'm not a fan of clipped wings in this case. is this full frame or do you have wings to restore (even if OOF/motion blurred)?

Love the flying droplets, pose and the bird angle. Do wish the wings weren't clipped.
I'm sure you wish you'd zoomed out.

Sharp where it needs to be. Nice capture of the water too.

Nice capture, Daniel. Cropping it more was a good idea. this way you draw all the attention to the body and the water.

Daniel, I liked the soft details. Water drops are cool. I am fine with the cut off wings. If mine, I'd take some off the left side.

great eye contact. I love the splash of water. I'm not sure about the composition . . . I think I wish we could see the entire wings.

Splashes are good, but I too would rather see all the wings

Nice and sharp on the face, and great take-off action. Nice looking bird. A handsome shot IMHO, clipped wings and all.
