    Default White-faced Duck

    Attached Images Attached Images

A white-faced Duck captured at my local pond in Pretoria on saturday morning. I stood in another position which created this BG, other than the normal water BG. This is full frame, all I have done is reduce to size. The BG is natuarally OOF, and is as shot.

Very nice. Excellent sharpness. Shows what you (and others like Daniel c.) can do with the 100-400.
I like the background and the way that you framed it -- even OOF the waterline shows below the bird. Dynamite wing position.

    Stuart,

It never cease to amaze me what remarkably good shots you can get of what many would consider slightly less "interesting" birds

Marvelous flight pose captured.Excellent BG colors complimenting to bird.
Love every thing about it in the image.
I am also using 100-400,however my images are no where near to your images.
    Suggestion are highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Gorgeous bg and light, great pose and exposure, Stu.
If anything, I'd move the bird further down in the frame.

Thanks a stack for all the feedback and kind words everyone.

Hi Sid, I totally agree that he could move down, but as he fitted so well in the frame as is, I left him.

Beautiful light and detail. Wis the dark band was not in the BG.

Ah I missed that this was FF. My bad. Brilliant image, especially considering this is FF!

Great wing pose with beautiful light and colors. Great details and sharpness.
Agree with Alan about the dark band in the BG but don't find it very distracting.

You're a master of these, mate! The exposure is perfect, so easy to undercook the blacks or overcook the white face...
Stunningly sharp and love that BG. I need to visit AR again sometime...

Great capture. Absolutely love the 'pose' and the warm background just gives it that calm feeling.
