Semipalmated plover having a wash
The great sandpiper migration is here in Atlantic Canada, and the plovers seem to be along for the ride!

Hey Mike, thanks for taking the time to repost your version of the image. This shot was taken at 7am this morning, and there was no sunlight yet. The sky was completely fogged over, so I am assuming that's why the colors are so flat.
This is why I posted it here, I wanted to know what to do with the WB. Here's another version of the image I redid.

Better?

Your repost is definitely an improvement, Charles and definitely better than my attempt with the jpeg.
Might still try boosting the saturation a bit, though.
What did you change with respect to white balance?

I saw a few of these from a distance this weekend...looking forward to some good opportunities. Nice bathing action, I like the water rippling behind the subject. The third image looks best IMO. The eye, especially the pupil, looks odd...as someone myself who touches up the eyes on most of my images I have to say that it can be easy to go a bit much on them.

Thanks Daniel,
I've actually been working on not overdoing the eyes because I usually touch up every single one. This one I have the "light" spot of the eye 0.2eV boost and a little bit darker on the dark portion. I did another one with the eye almost untouched.
Is it better?
Thanks!

Thanks Mike,
I just did an eyedropper on the whitest portion of the bird's feathers in LR4 for the WB.

Sharp with good detail and nice action. Light didn't help but you did what you could. The only version I find acceptable is the last one as the eye looks natural. In the other versions the eye looks way too funny and un-natural.
Interestingly Daniel mentions he finds it strange in your image but fails to see it in his photos....

Ofer, thanks so much for commenting. I've been working on the eye a lot as mentioned but I sometimes overdo it. I'll try and boost the saturation a bit to see what I can bring out of the raw file.
Thanks again!
