This was a really special moment for me. I had driven up to Viera to try and photograph this species and had only caught glimpses. Then, in what was really the very last of the light, there was a Crested Caracara right outside my window eating a coot! I was able to take a couple dozen photographs before the coot was airlifted to a different location.

superb take. nice eye contact. lovely details - especially the fine pores on the yellow regions of the beak drew my attention to it.

Lovely. Where was this? You might consider toning down the SAT on the bill. Perfect head angle and the bits of coot add to the story!

Great exposure control and details. Maybe a bit less saturation.

    Great image Judd,
Love the bright intense colors and the details on your bird with very sharp eye contact...:)

Judd you really optimised on a special moment. Nice portrait of a bird that I've yet to see. Great exposure, the details are still visible in the lighter feathers.

Fortune smiles on those with patience and great timing. Wonderful image. I see them at Viera all the time, but never, never this close up.
