    Default I´m thinking

Well, what is ha thinking about?
Anyway, I like this portrait of the baboon. Pretty clean portrait I think. Shot in Lake Nakuru last november. This was one of those drive-by shooting. And to my surprise I found this.

Shooting techs on this one much more where it should be I think. Quite a lot turned to be straight, and therefore some cropping. Eyes selective lighten. Levels adjusted and sharpening in LR4.

Hi Gregor, would look at trying to remove the blue cast in the face/body and apply a tad more selective sharpening and perhaps dare I say, trying a square crop? The BKG works well and I like the dappled colours. I can see why you chose the title. Also there appears to be a dust bunny just above the 'gq' in the name.

    Gregor,

As this appears to be a male I think it is highly likely he is thinking of his ladies

I quite like this, seems to me to be good detail and the head angle is just right.

Colours look right to me and certainly do not need opening up as they should be this dark.

Maybe a very slight reduction in blue would firm up the blacks but no real problem.

    Sorry crossed posts

Nice portrait and BG. Agree with Steve's suggestion on a tighter/square crop. Also agree with Ken he's probably thinking about ladies .

    Hi Gregor,
like the human pose in this portrait.Details and contrast are working quite well, but the comp is not working for me, too much pressed into the corner IMHO.Not even a square would work for me, just personal .The biggest issue here is the blue /purple cast , never seen a blue baboon,at least with my eyes.

I think the image would work a lot better without the cast, more natural looking .

    Cheers Andreas

I try a repost. I don't believe my self not to see that blue cast. I have know taken blue saturation in LR4 down to -25. I also put green up a bit.
I tried square as suggested. I don´t have anything against square, contrary I like it most of the time. In this case I think both works. Centered the baboon a bit.
Ken, I´m glad to fiddle around a bit and try what other people think. That does´t mean that I don't make my own opinion in the end. Just that I am curios and think that I am learning a lot from trying other peoples suggestions.

After looking for several seconds I finally noticed his right leg/paw up on his head. Not sure if that works for me.
Do like the crop more than original framing.

    Gregor,

The minor removal of blue has improved things slightly, not to sure that the crop does anything positive, but I am glad you choose to do it your way

Hi Gregor, good to see you taking things on board and working through the various options suggested and it has made a difference to the OP, in a positive way. I think you will find that working in LR, the adjustments you make will be more 'Global' than 'Selective', i.e. reducing the blue is overall to the image, where as in PS you can be more selective, and can control it more. Personally I would go more that is just my take. Again, regarding the crop, it was an option, but without exploring these things you never know.
Great to see how you progressing and trust things are slowing moving along the learning curve and making more sense.

    cheers

Gregor - I much prefer the rp comp wise and crop. Nice pose and the rp has also taken care of the color issue. Well done.

    Rachel
