Another portrait from my June trip to Machias Seal Island. I liked the extended neck here. The bg is rock, not sky.

Wow this is really nice. I love that the eye is looking right at you and the bill appears to be slightly away - a little bit different head angle and it works very well.

A beautiful shot. Excellent pose, portrait and image.
Lacks a tad of contrast on my screen, but not 100% calibrated, so take it with a large pinch of salt...:)

    Hi Rachel,
I think this is my favorite puffin shot of your series.
I like how he/she is looking at you but with the beak angled slightly waway. It works really well.
I think it needs a bit more punch and would add a couple of points of blacks to the neutrals and blacks in selective coloring.

Love the pose! I agree with some added contrast, but quite a strong portrait you managed here.

Lovely portrait with an excellent comp. Agree with a touch more contrast. Light handled very well, although I see a bit of noise in the blacks in the shadows on the neck.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments. I'll take a look at adding some contrast or blacks.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

One of the best head poses I have seen of this species. Good advice above.
