Default Baptismal Fount at the Basilica

Went back to the Basilica today with a different lens set...and quickly discovered why folks like tilt-shift lenses for architectural images when shooting wide angle . Eight shot HDR, 17-40mm@17mm, f/11. Merged and tonemapped in Photomatix Pro. Did a bit of perspective editing, a touch of NIK Detail Extractor, a layer of Topaz BuzzSim in the Color Blend Mode on a low opacity. Evicted a speaker hanging on the wall on the LHS, and then, for a slightly different look and texture, I then added a touch of Oil Paint. I think I'm addicted ...comments and suggestions welcome.

John, I like the careful framing and the delicate hand with the filtering. Nice details and light.

John, I like this perspective. The details and HDR are subtle but very nicely done. The lighting is beautiful

These last images you have been posting are beautiful with a glowing and quiet beauty that showcases the Basilica. The HDR effect really brings me into the image and it's like I'm sitting in one of the pews feeling the great magnitude as well as the details of the room.

Hi John, First off I like how you handled the image overall. I did a couple of things. First I omitted the black cover on the left and I dodged the candle slightly.
I also played with a crop where I excluded the pews on the left. I liked that crop also...

Cheryl, thank you...the lighting within the Basilica is so nuanced...it's an experience to work with.

Nancy, thank you for your comments...deeply appreciated...more to come, so I hope I don't wear out the welcome wagon!

Dave, nicely done...I like the suggestion and may give it a go I'll need to do something to the reflection on the floor where the mirror of the black drapery can still be made out...you did a heck of a job patching the area up top...any particular approach? Thank you again.

Another gorgeous image of this Basilica. I think I enjoy your images more than I would enjoy being there. You allow me to focus on particular sections, instead of being overwhelmed by the whole. Beautiful tones and light and processing. I especially admire your composition.
