    Default Pied King Fisher

I captured this image in the Kruger National Park. Two Pied King Fishers were diving in front of us in search of food. I waited for them to hit the water then immediately I would focus on the splash to capture them when they emerge.

    Technical:
    Canon EOS 1D Mark 4
    Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6
    1/4000 @ F5.6 @ ISO 800

    Hi Wynand,
Excellent reflexes and technique to capture this.
Love the water splash and the wake in the water.
I wish the bill didn't merge with the wing and I see a green cast in the blacks ( or perhaps it is a sheen but I don't recall ever seeing that on a pied KF).

Great job catching the action .... your technique worked quite well and I love the splash!

Agree bill merge is not ideal ... it's luck of the draw in these situations.

Good work and timing, and love the splash action. Ditto the bill/wing merge, and more sharpening to the subject.

This is a terrific action shot. Congrats on capturing a very difficult subject. As noted by other, it may not be perfect, but still a stellar shot. The splash is really nice.
