    Great job getting him in the open but still with a great sense of habitat!

    Ideally, I would prefer less of a body angle but I would gladly take it as is any day.

    Love photographing these guys. Unfortunately their favorite ponds are pretty much dry this year thanks to the drought we are experiencing this year (at least the ones I like to photograph them at). Great open look at this individual. Perfect techs and comp.

    Sounds like similar habits of the rails here, very shy and elusive, you have done well to get this one out in the open, great eye focus and color and i particularly like the natural marshy foreground, perhaps a little more dof would of improved slightly

    Spectacular capture of this bird. The habitat and clean background really make the shot for me. He seems a wee bit cramped, however. I might add a bit more room at top.
