Taken at 7:06AM in our pond in Ingonish.
This bird really gave me some nice opportunities while he visited our pond. He disappeared for a couple of weeks but returned with a ?mate for one day but I haven't seen them since.
    90% of full frame.
I cloned out a distracting grass that intersected with the bill.
I was going to crop more from the bottom but left as is. The grasses are quite busy and I thought leaving the water would "calm " the image visually. Opinions?
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail

The grass certainly isn't too busy for me. I prefer a shot like this over a shot with a nondescript background. Any day of the week, Gail! Also: lovely early morning light. I am fond of this picture!

Great light and action, maybe a touch offf the top and bottom for comp(personal taste of course) and maybe toning down the bright BG to make the bird stand out a bit more.

Gail - great low pov and wing position and pose. I would apply a luminosity mask to tone down some of the highlights.

Hi Gail, good low perspective, and I like the show of the raised wing. The yellow wing is nice and sharp, well exposed, and showing lots of finer detail. Ive looked at this a few times before going ahead with my version, mainly with regards to rotation. I can clearly see what you have based your 'alignment' on, and you are not wrong. What my eye is being drawn too, is the blue band of water just in front of the bird, and to me it is 'sloping' to the right. Here is my repost, giving that line a slight CCW rotation, taking a bit off the bottom, and running a slight multiply blending mode to the whole image. Hope you dont mind.

Repost makes it even better. Love the angle and colours in this image! Great action captured as well.

Wonderful wing position, low angle, sense of habitat, and droplets flying about. Nice capture, Gail! The only thing that bothers me is that it appears the head is very slightly angled away from us. I'm surprised no one's mentioned it. Maybe I'm wrong about that. I like to think I'm not one of the HA police, but here I find that the head angle creates a lack of engagement with the bird for me.
Think I see a slight magenta cast but that could be my monitor.

Great wing position, low shooting angle and nice corrounding, Gail. I like the water droplets in the air around the bird.
    The IQ is perfect.

I don't mind at all and love it when fellow BPN'ers tinker with my shots. I like the BG toned down but now I find that the image looks like it needs CCW rotation. Maybe somewhere in between?
    Melissa,
I agree with HA and that is why I was hesitant to post it. I have the next frame with a better HA but no water droplets,
    Gail
PS the title should read Greater Yellowlegs

I also like Stuart's version more, toned down work nicely. I like the wing position but H/A could be better TFS.

I like the low angle, water drops, wing position, exposure and setting. Stuarts repost is the composition I had in mind. Still a beauty as presented. Well done Gail.
