    Default Last Light (II)

This time I have to shoot in the great crested grebe without young bird.
    Is the cut too short?

I like tight crops, but I think the majority of people don't and will suggest it's too tight...but for me imo, if it's got quality and brilliant detail then fill the frame with all it's glory. This is extra good Frank, the behavior of the bird preening, the light is glorious and the water a very nice green...love the ripples !

I must add I'm very envious, we have these birds here as well, but they are not common at all, I have some OK shots, but nowhere near as impressive as this, and the water in all my shots is a rather drab brown.

The light and details and preening pose are stunning.
I would like a bit more room all around,

It does look a bit tight for me too. Have you added the black pupil as from my experience with the very similar Australian GCG they don't have a black pupil.

Love the colors, textures and surrounding...IQ looks good and the pose is very nice. A bit tight as presented but a small problem. Nice one Frank!

Frank - another beauty with great light, colors and details. I don't mind the close crop.

Quite lovely, once again, Frank. I have found when you have a frame-filling image such as this that if you print it and frame it with a mat of similar color to your background, it tricks the eye into seeing more space.

Hi Frank, I like the low perspective, and you have captured a lovely 'casual' pose. Good detail and colours on the plumage, and agree adding more space on each end will work, together with only a touch more on top.

I actually quite like the close crop. Brings out the detail of the bird even more! Super light and colours in the image.

    Superbly done!

Great Light & great pose with excellent feathers details. It's also a little tight for my taste.
