Here's a simple comp using a calligraphy character for "friendship" and a digital chop. I upped the contrast on the original capture of the two avocets, ran a Seeram action on it and then added a fract layer, fillet and mat/frame.

Dan, I like the square composition and the high key look. Nice one

I really like that Dan, but would prefer the left bird's bill to be complete. Easy enough to grab a bit from the other bird.

Lovely minimalist approach. You can just imagine the light brush strokes used to create the birds. Maybe just a bit more lines of water to surround the bill of the left bird to give it more context.

Dan, some good suggestions made...nice processing...I might move the chop away from the corner a bit..but that's personal taste...I like Nancy's idea RE the bill and the water.

Dan, I am liking this a lot! The minimalist look and the different composition really do give an Asian flair-nicely done. I might like a thinner border but you are the expert on this theme and you know best.

Hi Dan, I really like this one. You have presented it beautifully. I do wish for a little more bill on the second bird also, but this is also beautiful as presented.

Nice minimalist look. Wish the head of second bird were more distinct. Peaceful scene.
